The problem appears when you put them alongside each other.

The logo behaves differently. Titles arrive at different speeds. We build them ourselves, and for organisations producing content regularly they can save a huge amount of production time.

But a template answers a fairly specific question – how do I make this particular piece of content?

An effective motion system answers a broader one – how should the client’s brand behave when it moves?

That’s important. Give three experienced motion designers the same static brand guidelines and they can produce three excellent animations that look completely different. Each designer has to interpret the missing information for themselves.

How quickly should elements move? Should transitions feel smooth or immediate? Does typography glide, snap or fade into position? How much movement is appropriate? How should information be prioritised? How does the logo animate?

These are decisions that sit outside most traditional brand guidelines, which tend to focus on how the brand looks rather than how it moves. It’s familiarity.

Think about a static identity. A brand doesn’t have to use exactly the same layout on every page for you to recognise it. Typography, colour, imagery and graphic language create a visual relationship between different communications.

Motion can work in the same way.

A transition might change according to the format, but retain similar timing. If each supplier spends time interpreting the brand, designing title treatments, developing transitions and animating the same basic assets, the organisation repeatedly pays for essentially the same thinking.

There is also a hidden cost in approvals.

Brand managers end up reviewing decisions that have already been made on previous projects. Designers make amendments to bring work closer to earlier content. Suppliers spend time reverse-engineering animation from existing videos because they haven’t been given the original assets.

A well-designed motion toolkit removes a significant amount of that friction.[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1785740477941{margin-top: 125px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading el_id=”build-the-system-so-it-can-evolve”]

Build the system so it can evolve

[/vc_custom_heading][vc_custom_heading css=”.vc_custom_1790908566250{margin-top: 25px !important;margin-bottom: 25px !important;}”]There is another reason we prefer systems to collections of templates and that is brands change.

New channels appear. Video formats evolve. Teams need assets nobody anticipated when the original toolkit was created.

Trying to predict every possible deliverable leads to enormous template libraries, many of which are rarely used. A strong system is more adaptable.

If the underlying principles are clear, new assets can be created without reinventing the visual language. A designer working two years later should be able to understand the logic and extend it.

That makes the motion identity much easier to maintain.

It also changes the role of the toolkit. Instead of being a folder of finished files that gradually becomes outdated, it becomes part of the organisation’s wider design system.[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1785740477941{margin-top: 125px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading el_id=”let-s-stop-solving-the-same-animation-problem-repeatedly”]

Let’s stop solving the same animation problem repeatedly

[/vc_custom_heading][vc_custom_heading css=”.vc_custom_1790908566387{margin-top: 25px !important;margin-bottom: 25px !important;}”]As organisations produce more video, it becomes harder to rely on individual designers and suppliers to interpret the brand in the same way. Even with good brand guidelines, there are simply too many decisions around movement, timing and behaviour that are left open to interpretation.

A well-designed motion system removes some of that guesswork. It gives people a common approach to work from, along with practical assets they can adapt to different projects.

The templates are part of this, but they come after the thinking. Once you’ve worked out how the brand should move, you can build the titles, transitions, logo animations and other assets that will actually be useful in day-to-day production.

For organisations producing content regularly, this can make a noticeable difference. Editors spend less time rebuilding familiar elements, agencies have a clearer starting point, and brand teams don’t have to keep reviewing the same decisions from one project to the next.

Most importantly, it becomes easier to produce more content while keeping it recognisably part of the same brand.[/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1785740477941{margin-top: 125px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_custom_heading css=”.vc_custom_1790908565291{margin-top: 25px !important;margin-bottom: 25px !important;}”]Corporate brands are producing more moving content than ever.
