The Box Assassin is a short film about a pizza delivery boy’s unforgettable night of running into a slick, legendary assassin that defeats his enemies in clever ways you couldn’t imagine

Filmmaker and animator Jeremy Shaefer released his cool animated short film, The Box Assassin.

The short film tells the story of a young pizza delivery man and one adventurous night when he met one of the criminals of the city. The Box assassin defeats the criminals in the most unexpected way but with the help of the delivery boy.

The villain Jax is played by Adin Rudd, Lou Lambert did a voice over for Box Assassin, Jonathan Myles portrayed the delivery boy Craig. Sander Houtman worked on the sound design, and Vidjat Beerepoot took the role of a composer.

Production Information

The main tool he used in production was Autodesk Maya. Inside of Maya, he completed the set/prop modeling, rigging, surfacing, layout, animation, and lighting. The characters were all sculpted in Zbrush. The texture work was done in Substance Painter and Photoshop. The film was rendered with Arnold, and compositing was done in Nuke. Everything was edited in Adobe Premiere and lastly, Adobe After Effects was used to create the end credit sequence!

n physics, chemistry, and others, there is an idea of “dynamic equilibrium”.This idea denotes that, because two processes move to reverse direction each other at the same speed, the state changes continuously from a micro point of view but does not change from a macro point of view.

Human beings cannot be seen to be changed from outside, but many organs and cells repeat life and death in the body. In the work, I expressed the scene by magnifying and emphasizing it.The life exists by repeating life and death in its own body, and in its cycle, by changing itself little by little, it appears to change itself in a form of “samsara” or “evolution”.

Why don’t humans have patterned texture like animals?

Diffusion short film by Kouhei Nakama was inspired by his encounter with mathematical formulas, Reaction-Diffusion Systems. It is reported that patterns generated by the systems have similarities to natural patterns of animals, insects and plants. It is also pointed out that this pattern could be the basis of the morphogenesis of an organism.

“Just after the encounter with the formulas, I had a question in my mind. Why isn’t human skin covered with patterns? As I researched, I found that human skin is also covered with the pattern, Blaschko’s lines. The stripes are ordinarily invisible with the naked eye, because they are very vague.

I consider that there is the possibility that people could obtain patterns like animals in the future. In the future, if we have a drastic environmental change we would need to recombine our DNA with different species’ for protection. Consequently, human skin could gain patterns.”

Nakama didn’t use any photographs or any hand-drawn illustration in his video: all patterns and the skin texture were programming generated and the human model was made by using a computer. In the video, human beings have DNA transferred from other natural organisms such as luminescent coral and a shell absorbing metal into its body.

Dji. Death Sails

Dji is a terribly unlucky death who doesn’t seem good at his job. This time he has to take the soul of a pirate stuck in the middle of the ocean, but that is easier said than done

Well, you can’t just breathe a sigh of relief when you finish a project. Especially if you work in an animation studio. As soon as we finished the first animated film, we immediately started working on the second one. But we had to start it from scratch.

At first, we had to find the right setting that would make it clear that death should appear right there and then. So, we chose the ocean after a shipwreck as the setting. As our Dji can’t swim yet, he walks on water.

We drew inspiration from movies, videos, books on the history of pirates. The preparation was very extensive.

So, we have an ocean, a small raft floating amid the wreckage, a pirate dying of thirst (there must have been at least one survivor) and a chest of gold, which is completely useless in the present circumstances.

Here we go!

And here we come.

The first problem. Where should we set the camera? Give us at least one landmark! The only guiding marks that we could use were the sun and objects floating in the water. But while working on the storyboard, we faced another problem – how to create the correct movement of the camera in the shot with Dji running on the water so as not to disorientate the viewers? We changed the shot thousands of times, but finally we chose the variant that worked best for us.
