What camera settings should I use to mimic Blade Runner 2049?

There is no single camera setting that creates the Blade Runner 2049 look. Prioritize motivated soft lighting, controlled exposure, and deep shadows, then set white balance and ISO to preserve highlights and reduce noise. If you are shooting log, expose carefully so you have clean midtones for grading later.

Can I recreate the Blade Runner 2049 look with LUTs only?

You can get close to the color palette with a LUT, but LUT-only workflows usually miss the contrast curve and controlled saturation by luminance. Normalize first, then shape contrast, then push a dominant hue, then fine-tune saturation and skin tones. Use a LUT only as a subtle finishing layer if needed.

How do I get visible light beams without making the image look fake?

Use light haze and backlight first, then keep exposure under control so beams read as shape instead of blown highlights. If you enhance atmosphere in post, match the direction of practical sources and keep the effect subtle. Overdoing glow and fog is the fastest way to lose realism.

How do I match shots across a sequence when recreating a cinematic look?

Normalize each clip first, then match exposure, then match the contrast curve, and only then match the palette. Work with scopes, keep a reference frame open, and apply global changes on an adjustment layer. This approach keeps the grade consistent across a sequence.

Is Blade Runner 2049 shot on anamorphic lenses?

Lens choice affects the look, but you will learn more by analyzing how perspective, flare, and separation change scene by scene. Use the lens you have, then prioritize composition, motivated lighting, and consistent color decisions. Those choices will move your footage closer to the film faster than chasing one lens type.
