Does Premiere Pro have built-in LUTs?

Yes. You'll find technical conversion LUTs under Basic Correction > Input LUT and stylistic Looks under the Creative section of the Lumetri Color panel. They're solid for learning, though most editors add third-party packs for client work.

Where are LUTs stored in Premiere Pro?

In the shared Adobe LUTs folder: - Library - Application Support - Adobe - Common - LUTs on Mac and Program Files - Adobe - Common - LUTs on Windows, inside Creative or Technical subfolders you may need to create yourself. Restart Premiere Pro after adding files.

Can I use the same LUTs in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve?

Yes. The .cube format is universal, so one file works in Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. Each app just has its own install location.

How many LUTs can Premiere Pro display?

The dropdown menus show roughly 100 LUTs. Anything beyond that gets silently cut off, so keep an archive elsewhere and install only your active working set.

Is a LUT the same as a preset?

No. A preset stores effect settings inside Premiere Pro, while a LUT is a portable color transformation file that works across different software. Presets are app-specific, LUTs travel with you.

Do professional editors actually use LUTs?

Absolutely, just not as a one-click fix. Pros use technical LUTs for accurate log conversion and creative LUTs as a starting point for a grade, then refine exposure, contrast, and color balance on top.
