Should I use Photoshop or Illustrator for t-shirt design?

Illustrator is the better choice for t-shirt design, thanks to its vector-based approach. Use Photoshop only for creating mockups or adding photo textures, not for the final design.

How do I handle designs with many colors or gradients?

Try to limit colors for screen printing, but if you’re going for digital or DTG printing, gradients and complex color schemes are fine. Just make sure to export high-resolution files or retain vectors.

What resolution should my file be?

If you're using Illustrator for t-shirt design, your artwork is vector-based, which means it’s resolution-independent. That’s one of its biggest advantages!

Can I design for a black t-shirt?

Absolutely. Use light or bold colors that contrast well. Also, consider how negative space plays a role — sometimes, the shirt color becomes part of the design itself.
