How Do You Color Grade on iPhone for Free?

Shoot with the free Blackmagic Camera app (in Apple Log if your iPhone supports it), then grade in VN or LogGrade, both free. VN lets you import your own LUTs, and LogGrade converts Apple Log and adds HSL, grain and halation. For quick touch-ups, the Photos app's Adjust tools work on video too.

What Is the Best App for Color Grading on iPad?

DaVinci Resolve for iPad, because it has a full Color page with nodes, qualifiers, Power Windows and tracking. LumaFusion is the better pick if you want simpler tools that also run on iPhone, and Final Cut Pro for iPad suits editors who already use Final Cut on a Mac.

Can You Color Grade in iMovie on iPhone?

Only in a basic way. iMovie gives you filters but little manual color control. For more, adjust the clip in the Photos app first (exposure, contrast, warmth and more), then edit it in iMovie, or switch to VN or LumaFusion.

Does Final Cut Pro for iPad Support LUTs?

Not custom ones. Final Cut Pro for iPad uses built-in camera LUTs for automatic log processing, but Apple's guide confirms you can't import your own LUT files. Use its color adjustments and color grading presets, or grade in LumaFusion or Resolve for iPad if you need custom LUTs.

Can You Use Custom LUTs in CapCut Mobile?

No. The CapCut mobile app doesn't let you import custom LUTs; that works in the desktop app. On mobile, use CapCut's filters and adjustments, or switch to VN, which imports LUTs for free.

Why Does My iPhone Video Look Washed Out After Editing?

Usually it's a color space mismatch: HDR footage in an SDR project, Log footage that wasn't converted, or an HDR export played back as SDR. Convert HDR to SDR in your editor or set the project to SDR, and make sure Log clips get a conversion LUT before you grade.

What Gamma Does iPhone Use?

iPhone HDR video uses HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) with Rec.2020 color and Dolby Vision metadata. SDR video uses a standard Rec.709-style gamma, and Apple Log uses Apple's own log curve.

Do I Need to Shoot Apple Log to Color Grade?

No. You can grade HDR or SDR footage in any of these apps. Log gives you the most room to change exposure and color in post, so it's worth it for cinematic or client projects, but it takes more work and storage.
